Red Maple

Red maple (Acer rubrum):

Red maple lives in bottom wet woodlands. It is easy to tell red maple from other maples by its red lined petiole (leaf stem).  The seeds are good squirrel fodder.  They are good for sticking on your nose.  You can tap red maple for syrup making but its yield is low.  It is a lot of work, fun to do.
