American Beech (Fagus grandifolia):
This is a stately tree in woodland or out. Its bark is a smooth gray which makes it easy to tell from other trees. The leaves are very leaf looking. They are bright yellow green in the spring, dark green in during the warm months and bright yellow in the fall. The leaves persist till spring time as a delicate tan dried shell. Hard storms will rip some off but the new buds kick most laves off during the spring.
