Binder Weed

Binder Weed

Binder Weed (Convolvulus arvensis):

Binder weed is part of the morning glory family and is an invasive species in North America. It sprouts a trumpet-shaped flower, which normally appears light pink or white in color. Binder weed normally flowers in the summer. It is able to climb and creep its way up inanimate objects and other plants. Although beautiful, it is often an unwelcome plant in gardens and crop fields; as it often causes crop damage due to its robust and rapid growth cycle, which is aided by its extensive root systems. One binder weed can produce up to 500 seeds, and the seeds remain viable in soil for up to 20 years.
