The Center is a science based organization that relies daily on the process and results of the scientific method.  We rely on science methods in the fields of veterinary medicine and natural history research.  We are not a laboratory research institution but mostly utilize retrospective and observational style investigations.  Nevertheless, the scientific method holds.  We are currently working on trying to understand the immune response of blue mussels to temperature changes.  Here a student intern takes a “blood” sample from a mussel.
