Mute Swan Successfully Released Back into the Wild

Hey Everyone!

This Mute swan has finally been released back into the wild, after spending 2 month inside New England Wildlife Center’s hospital. He was first introduced to our followers last month, where he was hanging out in enrichment having a swim. He originally came in after a territorial dispute left him bruised and weak. He had sustained a fair bit of damage in the fight, and needed time to recovery completely. While in the hospital he received fluid and nutritional support, we worked to manage his pain and provided him with physical therapy.

These pictures show his successful release. He can be seen feeding off the bottom of the shallow pond, a great sign for a newly released animal. We expect him to have plenty of space to avoid any additional fights over nesting areas. Good luck Mute swan!
